Who May Advise A LINC Project?Faculty, staff, graduate students, and supervisors from industry can serve as project advisors, providing guidance for the student teams. LINC is a highly-mentored course. Each project team has at a minimum a designated teaching assistant and possibly a project advisor or advisors. Each team is paired with a Project Partner who will also give some guidance to the team.View all team progress reports What Do LINC Advisors Do?VOLUNTEER: LINC Advisors volunteer for an average of 1-2 hours/week (or even less time if necessary). Hired Project Assistants handle the administrative aspects of Discussion sections such as grading. Thus, a LINC advisors' role is primarily that, to advise students.WHEN: LINC currently meets T, Th from 3-3:50 p.m. Tuesday is the day for Lecture where students learn about teamwork, project management, learning how they learn, etc. Thursdays are the Project Team meeting days where student teams meet and work on their projects. It would be on Thursdays at the Project Team meeting that a LINC Advisor would primarily participate and give advice to the students. EXPERTISE: Those who agree to be advisors should have specific expertise that they could draw upon to assist the students in the completion of the project. So the project that you would advise would depend upon your specific interest and expertise. Advisors might get some inquiries at other times from the students on the team, but Thursdays would be the primary time for interaction and advising of the students.
